Why Us

Why Austin Locals Choose Ember & Bloom

Roasted In-House Every Morning

We don’t ship in pre-roasted beans. Our Probat sample roaster fires up at 5am, and your coffee is roasted the same day you drink it. That’s freshness you can taste.

Direct Farm Relationships

We source from small farms in Colombia, Ethiopia, and Guatemala. We visit annually, pay above fair-trade prices, and can tell you the story behind every bean in your cup.

A Space That Feels Like Home

Reclaimed wood tables, natural light, a patio with string lights, fast wifi, and baristas who remember your order. This isn’t a grab-and-go chain. It’s your neighborhood living room.

Local Guide

Coffee Culture on South Lamar

South Lamar Boulevard has quietly become one of Austin's most vibrant corridors for food, drink, and neighborhood life. Stretching south from Lady Bird Lake through the Zilker and Bouldin Creek neighborhoods, the street is lined with locally owned restaurants, boutique shops, and a growing number of specialty coffee roasters. Ember & Bloom sits in the heart of it all, at the intersection where walkability meets character.

What makes this stretch special for coffee lovers is the density of quality. Within a half-mile radius, you'll find three or four spots doing genuinely interesting things with coffee — but Ember & Bloom is the only one roasting in-house, on-site, every single morning. That distinction matters. When your beans were roasted six hours ago instead of six weeks ago, you can taste the difference in every cup.

If you're planning a visit, here are a few practical tips: weekday mornings before 8am are the quietest — you'll have your pick of seats and the roaster is usually still running, so the shop smells incredible. Weekends between 9 and 11am are our busiest, but the line moves fast. Street parking on South Lamar is free but competitive; there's also a small lot behind the building. If you're biking, we have a rack out front.

After your coffee, you're steps from some of Austin's best attractions. Zilker Park and Barton Springs Pool are a five-minute drive (or a 15-minute bike ride). South Congress Avenue — Austin's famous strip of vintage shops and live music — is just over a mile east. And if you're here for SXSW, ACL, or just a long weekend, Ember & Bloom is the kind of place that makes you feel like a local, not a tourist.

What Austin Coffee Lovers Say

I’ve tried every coffee shop on South Lamar and nothing comes close. The Ember Latte is legitimately the best thing I’ve ever ordered.

Rachel T.South Lamar

Moved to Austin six months ago and this is the first place that felt like home. Great coffee, even better people.

David L.Zilker

My team does remote work here twice a week. Fast wifi, amazing cold brew, and no one gives you the stink eye for staying four hours.

Aisha M.Travis Heights

The almond croissant alone is worth the trip. Pair it with their cortado and you’ll understand why there’s a line on Saturday mornings.

Chris B.Bouldin Creek

They roast their own beans IN the shop. You can literally smell it when you walk in. That’s how you know it’s real.
