NC State Inspection
$30 flat rate. No appointment needed. Results in 20 minutes.
North Carolina requires an annual safety and emissions inspection for all registered vehicles. Ironclad Auto and Tire is a licensed NC inspection station. We perform inspections Monday through Saturday — no appointment needed. Drive in, we’ll inspect, and you’re on your way.
What We Check
Brakes, tires, steering, suspension, lights, horn, windshield wipers, exhaust system, emissions, and more. Complete NC-mandated safety and emissions inspection.
$30 Flat Rate
The state-set maximum fee. No hidden charges. You pay $30 whether you pass or fail.
OBD-II Emissions Test
For vehicles 1996 and newer. We connect to your vehicle’s computer to verify emissions systems are functioning properly and no fault codes are present.
How to Prepare
Make sure your check engine light is off, all lights work, wipers function, and tires have adequate tread. If something needs attention, we can usually fix it the same day.
What If You Fail?
Don’t worry. We’ll explain exactly what failed and what it takes to fix it. If we make the repair, the reinspection is free. If you have it fixed elsewhere, the reinspection is $1.
When Is It Due?
Your inspection sticker shows the expiration month and year. North Carolina allows inspection up to 90 days before expiration. Don’t wait until the last day.
Transparent Pricing
$30 flat rate for all vehicles — set by the State of North Carolina. No appointment needed. If your vehicle fails and we perform the repair, the reinspection is free. Third-party repairs require a $1 reinspection fee.
