Our Story
Chris and Ana Martinez founded Greenstone Landscaping in 2010 with a belief that outdoor spaces should be designed with the same care and intention as the homes they surround. Chris brought a landscape architecture degree from NC State and 20 years of hands-on horticulture experience. Ana brought the business sense and client focus that turns good design into great project execution.
What started as a two-person operation working out of a single truck has grown into a team of 18 — three designers and 15 crew members — serving the Triangle with custom landscape design, professional installation, and year-round maintenance.
From the beginning, Greenstone has been guided by one principle: we plant things that belong here. That means native plants that thrive in North Carolina’s Piedmont climate, stone and materials sourced regionally when possible, and designs that work with the natural character of each site rather than fighting against it.
We don’t subcontract our design work and we don’t hand off our plans to outside crews. When you hire Greenstone, you get one team from consultation to completion — the same people who draw the plan build the landscape. That continuity is what makes the difference between a landscape that looks good on paper and one that looks stunning in your yard.

Chris Martinez
Founder & Landscape Architect
Landscape architecture degree from NC State, 20 years in horticulture. Chris designs every project personally and oversees construction to ensure the design intent carries through to the finished landscape.
Ana Martinez
Co-Founder & Operations Director
Ana manages business operations, client communication, and design coordination. She ensures every project stays on schedule, on budget, and aligned with the client's vision from consultation through completion.
Marcus Webb
Senior Designer
8 years of landscape design experience with a focus on sustainable outdoor living spaces. Marcus creates the 3D renderings and detailed plans that help clients visualize their projects before ground is broken.
Elena Rossi
Lead Designer
Horticulture background with expertise in perennial garden design and native plant communities. Elena selects every plant with attention to year-round interest, mature size, and ecological value.
James Patterson
Hardscape Foreman
15 years of masonry and hardscape construction experience. James leads our stone crews and ensures every patio, wall, and walkway meets Greenstone's standards for craftsmanship and structural integrity.
Daniel Okafor
Irrigation Specialist
Licensed irrigation contractor with 10 years of system design and installation experience. Daniel designs water-efficient systems and manages all winterization, startup, and repair work.
Community
Greenstone partners with the NC Botanical Garden on native plant education and contributes annual landscape installations to Habitat for Humanity builds in Wake County.
We believe that good landscaping isn’t just about making properties look beautiful — it’s about creating ecosystems that support pollinators, manage stormwater, and connect people with the natural world right outside their doors.
