Planting & Garden Design

Perennial beds, foundation plantings, shade trees, and native NC plants selected for beauty and resilience.

Great landscapes start with great plants — and great plants start with the right selections for your specific site. Greenstone's planting designs consider sun exposure, soil type, drainage, mature size, seasonal interest, and maintenance requirements. We don't just pick plants that look good in a nursery; we choose plants that will thrive in your yard for decades.

Perennial Beds & Borders

We design layered perennial gardens with staggered bloom times for continuous color from March through November. Our beds use proven performers for the Piedmont: black-eyed Susans, coneflowers, salvia, hostas, daylilies, and native grasses.

Foundation Plantings

Replace overgrown builder-grade shrubs with a curated mix of evergreen structure and seasonal accent plants. We design for year-round interest with proper spacing so nothing outgrows its spot in five years.

Privacy Screening & Hedges

Green Giants, Nellie Stevens hollies, wax myrtles, and other fast-growing evergreens create natural privacy without the maintenance headaches of a fence. We plan for mature height and density.

Shade & Ornamental Trees

Japanese maples, crepe myrtles, redbuds, dogwoods, and native oaks selected for your property's specific conditions. Properly sited and planted with room to reach full canopy.

Native NC Plants

Native plants are adapted to our soil and rainfall, require less water and fertilizer, and support local wildlife. We incorporate natives like Carolina jessamine, beautyberry, switchgrass, and native azaleas into every design.

Seasonal Planting Guide

Spring is ideal for perennials and warm-season annuals. Fall is the best time to plant trees, shrubs, and cool-season perennials — cooler soil temps promote root growth. We'll advise on the best timing for your project.

Transparent Pricing

Garden design and planting projects range from $2,000 to $15,000 depending on bed size, plant selection, and soil preparation requirements. A typical foundation planting refresh runs $3K–$6K. A complete perennial garden design with installation is $5K–$12K. All quotes include plants, soil amendments, mulch, and a one-year plant warranty.
